“CLASSES” - FAQ
Qns: Do classes start
at the beginning of every month? Or can I go as and
when I like? Do I have to make an appointment?
Ans: Open Classes take place every Tuesday, Thursday,
Friday, Saturday and Sunday based on a monthly Open
Class Schedule which you can obtained from the website
www.skatesports.com.sg. Students who take theClass Coupons
package will attend lessons stated in this timetable.
Students on this class package do not have to make an
appointment.
Qns: How do the coaches
know how many times I have attended a class and where
I have stopped?
Ans: Every student is given a Class Card. At the end
of every class, coach(s) will evaluate and tick off
the skills that the students have learnt and mastered.
This way, they will be able to keep track of the progress
of each and every student.
Qns: What is the Coach to student ratio in the
Open Class?
Ans: The student-to-coach ratio
in the Open Class is not fixed. It depends on the turn
out at each session. This is affected by various factors
like the weather, how popular the particular session
is and other seasonal factors. The average number of
students in a class is 6-10. This may sometime go as
high as 20 or more.
Qns: Do I need to have
my own skates and safety gears (wrist, Knee and elbow
guards) to learn?
Ans: No, all skates and gears are
provided for all sessions for those students who do
not have their own. For safety reasons, wearing all
protective gears (wrist, elbow & knee) during lessons
are mandatory. Wearing of helmet for those under the
age of 16 is compulsory but highly recommended for those
above the age of 16.
Qns: Where are the lesson
venues?
Ans: There are 3 venues for you
to choose from East Coast Park Area C3 Beginners’
Corner, Kallang Leisure Park, and Tampines Millennium
Court St82.
Qns: What happens if it
rains before or during the lesson?
Ans: If it rains 1/2 hour
before a lesson, the lesson will be automatically cancelled.
If you are planning to go to a class and the weather
looks uncertain, or if you are not sure if a lesson
has been cancelled, please call the SkateSports branch
closest to the lesson venue to check. We cannot predict
the weather but we will advise you to the best of our
knowledge.
The coach(s) reserve the right
to make this decision on the ground.
If the rain has stopped, but the
ground is wet and the coach(s) deem it unsafe for skating,
the class will also be cancelled. This decision is made
for the safety of students. Skatesports is not obliged
to refund or compensate students taking the Open Class
for lessons cancelled in this manner.
